Type I Non-Abelian Superconductors in Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

چکیده
Non-BPS non-Abelian vortices with CP internal moduli space are studied in an N = 2 supersymmetric U(1)×SU(2) gauge theory with adjoint mass terms. For generic internal orientations the classical force between two vortices can be attractive or repulsive. On the other hand, the mass of the scalars in the theory is always less than that of the vector bosons; also, the force between two vortices with the same CP 1 orientation is always attractive: for these reasons we interpret our model as a non-Abelian generalization of type I superconductors. We compute the effective potential in the limit of two well separated vortices. It is a function of the distance and of the relative colourflavour orientation of the two vortices; in this limit we find an effective description in terms of two interacting CP sigma models. In the limit of two coincident vortices we find two different solutions with the same topological winding and, for generic values of the parameters, different tensions. One of the two solutions is described by a CP effective sigma model, while the other is just an Abelian vortex without internal degrees of freedom. For generic values of the parameters, one of the two solutions is metastable, while there are evidences that the other one is truly stable.

Non-abelian Superconductors - Lessons from Supersymmetric Gauge Theories for Qcd
Much about the confinement and dynamical symmetry breaking in QCD might be learned from models with supersymmetry. In particular, models based on N = 2 supersymmetric theories with gauge groups SU(N), SO(N) and USp(2N) and with various number of flavors, give deep dynamical hints about these phenomena. For instance, the BPS non-abelian monopoles can become the dominant degrees of freedom in the...

I review recent progress in the construction and classification of maximally supersymmetric theories with non-abelian gauge groups. The algebraic framework is based on the underlying exceptional symmetry groups. This has applications for supergravity theories describing flux compactifications as well as for the recently constructed three-dimensional superconformal theories describing the dynami...

We obtain an explicit expression for the supersymmetric Wilson loop in terms of chiral superfields and supercurrents in superspace. The result turns out to be different from what one would expects from the simple replacement of Lie algebraic valued connection in the exponent with the corresponding super-Lie algebraic one. In the abelian supersymmetric gauge theories, generalizing the super-part...
متن کاملWalls and Vortices in Supersymmetric Non-abelian Gauge Theories
We review recent results on the BPS multi-wall solutions in supersymmetric U(NC) gauge theories in five dimensions with NF(> NC) hypermultiplets in the fundamental representation. Total moduli space of the BPS non-Abelian walls is found to be the complex Grassmann manifold SU(NF)/[SU(NC)×SU(NF−NC)×U(1)]. Exact solutions are obtained with full generic moduli for infinite gauge coupling. A 1/4 BP...

We review recent results on solitons in supersymmetric (SUSY) non-Abelian gauge theories, focusing on our papers: hep-th/0405194, hep-th/0405161, and hep-th/0404198. We construct the BPS multi-wall solutions in supersymmetric U(NC) gauge theories in five dimensions with NF(> NC) hypermultiplets in the fundamental representation. Exact solutions are obtained with full generic moduli for infinite...
